Chris Kimmance
Chris has led choirs before and loves to work with the human voice. He has been playing the piano since he was 4 and wonders if he’ll be properly good at it one day! After completing a number of grades in a variety of instruments, including piano, violin and trombone, Chris went to Dartington College of Arts in Devon to study for a music degree, focusing particularly on jazz piano, composition and conducting. While at University, Chris sang with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus for concerts and recordings, most notably of African Sanctus by David Fanshawe. Money was earned playing in a duo for dinners and functions.
Since graduating, Chris has taught music extensively in different schools in Essex and formerly on a 1:1 basis. He has led a number of bands and worked as the musical director for national events. He has a real passion for music and particularly the voice, which he believes can be a thing of such beauty and power. He loves directing and accompanying singers and has been involved in voice coaching as well as training to be an Advanced Skills Teacher for ‘Voices’, a music curriculum for schools. He has also led a number of workplace choirs.
Chris is excited about the way this choir has become a place where people who love to sing can come together – a community. #somuchmorethanachoir
